‘While Looking Heaven in the Eye’, featured at the Karachi Biennale 2024, is an exploration of the Palestinian experience through the art of tatreez (traditional embroidery).

The project weaves together the rich symbolism of tatreez with the human realities of Gaza, illustrating both cultural identity and the stark statistics emerging since October 2023. Inspired by Refaat Alareer’s defiant poem, “I Must Die,” “The Gaza Project” is structured around three core themes: Loss, Resilience and Hope
